Arts at the Armory’s historic Performance Hall and cozy ROOTED Café are available to rent for your next private event!

The Performance Hall has undergone marked aesthetic and technical improvements in 2022 and 2023. Originally used as a drill hall when the Somerville Armory was built in the early 1900s, the Performance Hall is a raw, industrial space that can transform into the perfect venue for an urban wedding, fundraising gala, or a banquet. This versatile space is made more special with the Mezzanine for additional seating and viewing, and includes a fully-staffed bar.

*The Performance Hall can be enhanced with decorations and additional lighting that is brought in by individual renters. Arts at the Armory does not provide string lights for event rentals.

ROOTED Café offers a funky, coffeehouse vibe for visitors that is enhanced by seasonal art exhibitions featuring local artists. The cafe can be booked for public or private events, like festive soirees, baby showers, and birthday parties.

The Café offers delicious food, espresso drinks, and a rotating selection of wine and beer. Special catering for events can be provided upon request. The space capacity is 52 seated/standing, or 35 seated.

With an intimate stage and flexible seating, ROOTED Café offers a cozy and lively atmosphere for all.

In April 2025, we introduced a more limited configuration of our Café space (with a cap. of 40 people) available for rent for meetings and rehearsals, only through Peer Space. This unique rental is being offered on weekdays; the Cafe offers a welcoming space for professionals and creatives. Renters can use the built-in screen and projector, simple sound system, or piano.

For this rental configuration, a temporary wall is installed to separate the dining room (including the stage) from the retail/kitchen area. The kitchen will not be open, and no food or drink will be available to order on-site. Renters can bring in outside food and non-alcoholic beverages if they wish.
