A Drawing A Day: Ink by Olivia
A solo exhibition by Olivia MacDonald on view at Rooted Armory Café til April 28, 2024.
Boston-based artist Olivia MacDonald is best known for the ink drawings she has been creating every day since the winter of 2018 on her Instagram @inkbyolivia. She holds a collection of over 1,800 thought-provoking and playful black and white designs, metaphors for her daily thoughts and experiences.
Olivia initially started Ink By Olivia to help her cousin in Switzerland through his depression. He is like a brother to her, so she began drawing a new piece every single day because she wanted to make him smile. There is a deep and layered meaning behind each piece and behind the core of her company. Her work is all about seeing the light in the darkness and capturing the beautiful moments in life, without the need for color.
Olivia has been able to inspire people across the world through her art. She collaborates with clients, like Hilko Guitars of Belgium and Brahmin designer handbags, to bring their artistic visions to life. Her commission work ranges from custom tattoo designs to album covers, gig posters, logos, and product packaging and she is a featured artist with Strathmore Artist Papers and Sakura of America.
