Sara Caswell, a 2018 Grammy nominee for “Best Jazz Improvised Solo,” is a rising jazz star with multiple recordings as a leader, as a member of the collectives “9 Horses” and “Rose and the Nightingale,” and as a performer in the bands of Dave Stryker, Brad Mehldau, Esperanza Spalding, and Bruce Springsteen.

David Thorne Scott and Mark Shilansky have been playing music together since Scott’s arrival in Boston in the late 90’s. They have collaborated as members of the vocal jazz group “Syncopation,” as well as on each other’s projects, notably Shilansky’s band Fugue Mill, and Scott’s recordings “Shade” and the newly released “Thornewood.”

Frequent collaborator guitarist Eric Byers joins Scott and Shilansky on this show. Byers is a noted educator and accompanist with many New England artists. Repertoire for this performance will consist of jazzy music from Caswell’s various CDs, as well as the Americana/Jazz arrangements of Shilansky’s “Fugue Mill” and Scott’s “Thornewood” (featuring acoustic guitar-laden takes on Cole Porter and jazzifications of John Denver and Townes Van Zandt).
