More about the acts:The Devil is 6: A Pixies Tribute formed in 2023 by long time members of the local Boston original rock scene. Featuring Chris Mulvey (Pale Monsters/Muy Cansado) on guitar and lead vocals, Dan Garrity (moki/Beford Davis) on drums, Lisa Libera (Muy Cansado) on bass and Matt King (The Lights Out) on lead guitar. Each member cites The Pixies as a primary musical influence making this band a natural progression for four musicians weaned on this seminal Massachusetts band.

Gretchen & The Banshees features Gretchen Shae as Siouxsie. Shae (formerly of The Knock Ups) also performs her own music in Gretchen Shae & The Middle Eight along with her bandmate: Ronan Fahy (guitar). Other Banshees include Richard Cramer (guitar), Faith Carroll (bass/vocals) who also performs with her group Queen’s Reign. and Marisa Young (drums) who performs with Vivra Vera and played in The Knock Ups. Shae cites Siouxsie as one of her major influences as both a performer and pioneer for women in punk rock.

Staring At the Sea came together when Gretchen & the Banshees wanted a tribute band for The Cure for a one-off collaboration for a goth showcase. Guitarist/Bass VI player Michael Rebeiro (Ghost Painted Sky) initiated the project. Singer/Guitarist Brien Sweet (The Young Americans, Neon Wave, Band Without Hands) responded by mentioning “everyday I wake up with Robert Smith’s hair”. Soon followed by Cure enthusiasts Matthew King (The Lights Out) on Bass and Dan Garrity (Moki, Bedford Davis) on Drums. The band is rounded out by synthesis master Aaron Nisbet on Keyboards. Together, the group performs the spectrum of The Cure’s catalog, from saccharine dance tracks & pop songs to desolate dirges.
