Pirate and Robber Ballads and Chantey Sing for Talk Like a Pirate Day

Sat. Sep. 19, 2026 at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

WHAT:
Pity the fate! A.J. Wright will present ballads of larceny and retribution on land and on sea, buoyed by historical context and a treasury of trivia. Please be aware: these are traditional ballads about crime, and may contain sensitive content. We are expecting an exuberant and enthusiastic crowd of pub singers in pirate garb for a concert at 2pm and singaround at 3pm, and looking forward to a swashbuckling TLAP Day event of traditional and historical depth and authenticity as well as some festive piratical shenanigans.

Cosponsored by the Folk Song Society of Greater Boston and the Mermaid’s Tavern.

WHY:
Check out this article that kicked off International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

HOW MUCH:
Sliding scale $20 suggested donation at the door or PayPal online
