Mioera, Emily Irving, and The Star Family Singers

Sun. Jun. 14, 2026 at 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us for a unique evening of independent, local music from songwriters Yifei Zhou (Boston) Emily Irving (Portland, ME) and The Star Family Singers.

These artists offer a glance into a secret music world firmly rooted in contemporary DIY circles and local collaboration. Enjoy poetic lyricism, ethereal harmonies and lush instrumentation in a listening-room atmosphere at Arts at The Armory on June 14th at 5:30pm.

Originally from Shanghai, Yifei Zhou is a vocalist, composer, and interdisciplinary artist whose work moves between songwriting, improvisation, and experimental sound. Yifei’s music draws from jazz, electronic music, rock, pop, ambient, and folk traditions, often blurring the line between composition and free exploration. She is interested in sound as an environment—how texture, breath, repetition, and restraint can hold memory, grief, and tenderness. While melody remains central to her work, she is increasingly drawn toward minimalism, noise, and non-linear song forms.

Emily Irving is a folk rock singer-songwriter based out of Portland, Maine, crafting playful and heartfelt songs to mirror, mystify, and mend. Her debut record ‘Secret Music World’ is out now.

The Star Family Singers are a songwriting duo who write music about the mystical powers of love and friendship. Always a real world venture, they live in a 2003 Toyota Highlander and tour the DIY circuit, eating gas station hot dogs, exploring their craft and pursuing the effervescent mystery of music itself!
