Rachael Yamagata isn’t dinner party small talk – she’s the knife and compass in a red velvet satchel.

With her unmistakable voice as a touchstone, the Hudson Valley-based singer/songwriter returns with Starlit Alchemy – A cinematic, soul-stirring journey through grief, surrender, resilience, and release. Starlit Alchemy isn’t a collection of singles or an algorithmic playlist; it’s a “deep dive record,” as Yamagata calls it. “It’s forensics for trauma and beauty and the bittersweetness of the in-tandem nature of both.” Starlit Alchemy roams the cave and the stars. It weaves galactic counsel into our human experience. It’s a soundtrack for personal excavation and mystical rebirth, made to be felt in full.

Known for bruising vulnerability, wry humor and unrelenting grit, and a favorite with fans for her soul-baring live performances, she tours Starlit Alchemy as an ‘experience’ – think strings and Daniel Lanois ‘esque soundscapes and lyrics to move you through any stuck state. Kindred artists might include Patrick Watson, Mitski, Cat Power, Fiona Apple, Damien Rice, Bonnie Raitt and Ray Lamontagne.

Anya Marina is a provocative and gifted live performer, touring nearly non-stop throughout her career, both as headliner as well as in tandem with such artists as Jason Mraz, Spoon, Tristan Prettyman, Eric Hutchinson, Chris Isaak, Paolo Nutini, Dandy Warhols, and in recent years, opening for comedian Nikki Glaser in theaters across the U.S. and Europe.

Marina is also a prolific songwriter, perhaps best known for “Satellite Heart,” from the platinum-selling soundtrack to Twilight: New Moon, and her cover of T.I.’s “Whatever You Like” (7M YouTube views and counting). Marina’s songs have been featured in national ad campaigns and influential TV series (13 Reasons Why, Grey’s Anatomy, Gossip Girl), remixed by Interpol’s Sam Fogarino, and called “a mixture of Liz Phair sex appeal with a dash of [Carl] Jung” by Rolling Stone.

After releasing two critically acclaimed albums (Slow & Steady Seduction: Phase II and Felony Flats) and an EP (Spirit School) on Chop Shop/Atlantic, Marina independently released Paper Plane and EPs Serious Love and Over You – the lead single from which was featured in the award-winning web series Anya Marina: Indie-pendent Woman. She followed that with Queen of the Night in 2020, Live & Alone in New York (recorded live over two nights at Rockwood Music Hall, NYC) in 2021, and her sixth studio LP, Asteroid (produced by Kevin Salem in Woodstock, NY) in 2024. She is currently working on an album of duets with partner Matt Pond.
