April 7: Why Cat Why
WHY CAT WHY includes local legends Sandy Martin on bass, Kathy Burkly on drums and John Pearson on guitar.
Suzanne Boucher began performing and recording rock and blues in the 1970’s, featured in several popular local Boston bands including Saloon (which included jazz legend Jeff Lorber) and the Splendaids. By the mid 70’s Suzanne returned to her jazz roots and led jazz trios and quartets under her own name at local and regional clubs. At the same time Suzanne formed a session vocal trio TVS (The Vocal Section), recording commercials and backing original folk, country and rock musicians in Boston.
With TVS and alone Suzanne worked with many well-known musicians including Livingston Taylor, Robin Lane, Beth Sass, Mason Daring and Jeanie Stahl, Asa Brebner, Micky Clean, the Love Dogs and Andy Pratt and collaborated on multiple movie soundtracks including Dick Tracy, Brother from Another Planet, Lianna, Key Exchange, Shallow Grave, The Secret of Roan Innish, and The Return of the Secaucus 7. With The Afternoon Delights she recorded the hit single “General Hospitale” which sold 850,000 singles and 250,000 EPs.
Suzanne collaborates on songwriting with her band Why Cat Why, Robin Lane and Reed Butler. She performs her original songs with the duo BOB and is now working with WHY CAT WHY, playing their original jazz, blues and indie pop music.
