Artist Bio:
Laura Scheuerell is a painter, collager, mixed media artist, educator, and writer from the Boston area who uses her work to process her daily life. She thinks of her art as a memory bank that records impressions, marks special moments or inner thoughts, expresses feelings, and has the power to usher a viewer into an alternate mental and emotional space. She likes to investigate themes and tell stories through layers. She pays attention to what captures her curiosity. It has always been her compass and balance. You can visit Laura’s website here.

In lieu of a reception, Laura has created this video as an accompaniment to her exhibition at ROOTED Armory Café this month.

“The most famous trans comedy duo of all time”

GIRL GOD is a comedy and writing duo featuring April Clark and Grace Freud. Their live shows are surreal, interactive performances with jokes from their trans and queer perspective that are actually funny and not just looking for applause. With sold out shows in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles–not to mention sketches that have been viewed hundreds of thousands of times online–Girl God is the most popular trans comedy group performing today, if not ever.

Freud was a co-producer on season 2 of Netflix’s Inside Job. Previously she was an executive story editor on the upcoming Mike Judge/Greg Daniels animated series Bad Crimes, a story editor on the Adult Swim series XV-LIV and a staff-writer on Rick and Morty. She has also consulted on The Eric Andre Show. She wrote an original comic for Marvel as part of their Pride Voices series and wrote the comic book, Rick and Morty Presents: Jerryboree. Prior to writing for Television, Grace wrote for all of your favorite comedy websites, including ClickHole, The Onion and Funny or Die.

Clark was a staff-writer for season 2 of the Broadway Video podcast Hot White Heist. Her sketches have been viewed millions of times across platforms. She skipped high school, graduated college at 18, and is currently pursuing her PhD in Women’s and Gender Studies at SUNY Stony Brook. April thinks women should smile less, so they don’t get wrinkles.
