UPDATED “For All Souls” Workshop by Jean Appolon

Sun. Oct. 30, 2022 at 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

10/25/2022 UPDATE:

Known as the Festival of the Ancestors, Fet Gede is celebrated in Haiti on November 1-2. People dress up, take to the streets, dance their communion with ancestors, and walk to cemeteries to feed the dead with gifts from their tables.

Join choreographer and master teacher Jean Appolon, and master drummer Wichemond Thelus for a dance workshop focused on Gede dance movement, rhythms and traditions. The workshop is designed for all movers and makers. Participants will be welcomed to create a space for shared remembrance; all are invited to bring a photograph or object to honor a loved one. Please dress in white, black or purple. Register here.

This workshop was previously scheduled to be led by Zili Misik. Unfortunately Zili Misik needs to cancel their participation in this workshop as well as the concert that was scheduled to follow.

Please reach out to info@artsatthearmory.org to learn more.

Funded in part by the New England States Touring program of the New England Foundation for the Arts, made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Touring Program and the six New England state arts agencies.
