Join the Department of Racial and Social Justice at Arts at the Armory to catch a film celebrating the black experience through cinema.

To close out February, we’re hosting a Film Day, featuring screenings that highlight Black voices, histories, and experiences. There will be film selections for families, young adults, and adults.

Following each screening there will be opportunities for more engagement including arts and crafts, and small group reflections.

Light refreshments will be available.

Soul | 10:30 am | All Ages
Join us for Soul, a family-friendly movie about Joe, a middle-school band teacher whose life hasn’t quite gone the way he expected. His true passion is jazz. But when he travels to another realm to help someone find their passion, he soon discovers what it means to have soul.

The Hate U Give | 1:30 pm | Young Adult
Kicking off at 1:30 pm, The Hate U Give tells the story of Starr, who witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Now, facing pressure from all sides of the community, Starr must find her voice and stand up for what’s right.

Adult Film & Panel Discussion| 4 pm | Adult
We’re closing out the day with an adult film (stay tuned) and subsequent panel discussion.
