International Uilleann Piping Day

International Uilleann Piping Day

Sat. Nov. 01, 2025 at 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

International Uilleann Piping Day, a global celebration of the unique Irish pipes or ‘uilleann pipes’, will take place around the world on Saturday 1st November 2025. This co-ordinated day of piping activity is aimed at raising awareness of this iconic Irish instrument.

The uilleann (pronounced ILL-in) pipes are the national bagpipe of Ireland, and the quieter, sweeter cousin to the Scottish highland pipes. They are played sitting down, and the bag is inflated by pumping bellows strapped to the elbow, rather than blowing by mouth. Come join the Boston Uilleann Pipers Club as we celebrate International Uilleann Piping Day!

Try the pipes 1-1:50pm
Traditional Irish session (open to all, not just pipers) 2-4pm
