Every dollar donated to MLC through the GivingTuesday program will be used for after-school, school vacation and summer vacation slots for children between the ages of 5 and 12. For 34 years CAAS has helped reduce poverty among local families and individuals while also working to change the societal conditions that cause and perpetuate poverty. They assist families and individuals in escaping poverty and becoming economically self-sufficient. They also serve as an an “emergency room” for every non-medical need an individual or family may have: housing, food, heat, education. CAAS is also a switchboard for referrals to other agencies that can help people and the center of coalitions that make a stronger Somerville.
