Mindfulness and Holistic Living

This is a program that allows adults to lead a mindful lifestyle with a more holistic approach. Different classes include varying types of yoga, meditation, Reiki, etc. It also has a strong focus on herbalism, and allows adults to gain a deeper understanding of the benefits that plants and essential oils hold. Participants can pick and choose from a number of herbalism topics and learn different ways of making their own products,  including herbal remedies, essential oils, soaps, candles, and much more.

**The  recommended deadline to sign up for the classes is two weeks prior to each class.**

New Moon Gong Meditation with Mantra

Throughout India, it is thought that the new moon and full moon are especially auspicious times for reflection—a time of contemplation on both our inner nature, as well as our interaction with the natural world. To honor this tradition, on the Sunday closest to each new moon this fall, the Arts at the Armory in collaboration with Emily Murphy Kaur & Harmeet Singh will hold space for a monthly special event: New Moon Gong Meditation with Mantra.

Dates and Times:  This event will be held the Sundays on 10/15, 11/19, and 12/17 at 7PM.

Herbs for Joint Health

About the Event: This class will address simple teas you can make at home and we’ll discuss herbs you can find in grocery stores to improve joint health, some for internal use, some for topical use. We’ll also discuss foods and other non-herbal ways to improve your joint health. Students will have the opportunity to taste all of the teas and herbs that will be discussed.

Date and Time: This is a one time event that will be held on Wednesday, November 13th from 7-8:30PM


About the Event: As we skate into the holidays, now is the perfect time to learn how to make herbal gifts for your friends and family. In this workshop. we’ll make a simple syrup of a tasty aromatic herb that can be used to spice up your recipes (which can be repeated with almost any herb for endless herb preservation and culinary joys), as well as a unique herbal chai blend that can be adapted into teas, holiday drinks or a variety of recipes (and learn about the medicinal qualities of these spices). We’ll even make topical herbal items, including an herb infused cream, that is natural and protects and brightens. In fact, if time allows we will make a few different types of topical items. You will also take at least one of these gifts home with you at the end of the session.

DIY Toothpaste from Herbs and Natural Ingredients

About the Class: In this course, you’ll learn which herbs and other natural ingredients support tooth and gum health, and make tooth powder and toothpaste to take home. We will work with ingredients such as powdered herbs, including antimicrobial, astringent and activating herbs, salts, clays, essential oils, glycerine and other curious and effective natural ingredients, with tasty results. You will learn several ways to turn a basic homemade tooth powder into a delicious toothpaste and take home many recipes but also be able to craft your own combination.

Date and Time: This is a one time event that will be held on Thursday, January 18th from 7-8:30PM.

Lotion and Lip-Balm from Simple All-Natural Ingredients

Class Description: Lotions will be made using orange blossom or rose-distilled waters, essential oil with blue chamomile, and oils infused with locally-harvested healing herbs such as violet and St. John’s wort.Lip balms will be made with the same natural ingredients. A batch of each will be made in this hands-on class and you’ll walk away with products to keep your skin soft and healthy. These home-made products will make great gifts, and you can also get ideas for parties based on what we do in class.
