Class Description: This will be an interactive and collaborative youth workshop, combining movement and improv with visual art activities. Students will learn how to apply storyboarding in the narrative process, and will work collaboratively on constructing an original interpretation of a traditional folk narrative. This workshop will be co-taught by Doria and Joy, who will contribute their unique expertise in Storytelling and Visual Art towards an integrative approach to learning narrative structure and honing performance technique.
About the Facilitators: Doria Hughes is a storyteller and teacher, co-founder of Massmouth, ReadBoston Corps Teller, In-house Storyteller at Porter Square Books, founder of the Adult Folktale Telling Series.
Joy Geha is an Expressive Therapies, with an Art Therapy specialization MA student at Lesley University. She is also the Education Programs Assistant at the Center for Arts at the Armory. Joy enjoys the process of creation and new discoveries.
