Sara’s violin and Sunniva’s accordion are sometimes playing like one voice and at other times complementing each other in sympathetic, melodious, and playful ways. Singing in Finnish, Swedish and English, the duo brings together their musical backgrounds and passions.
This will be the duo’s second appearance in the Journeys in Sound series. Their first appearance, last spring, was their debut as a duo.
Boston-based Fiddler & Folksinger Emerald Rae creates a groove-heavy sound reminiscent of old country blended with the intricacy of Celtic fiddle and rocked-up droning accompaniment. Complimented by sultry vocals and introspective lyrics that mirror old folktales, Emerald Rae brings the fiddling-singing combo to a whole new plateau. Her intriguingly quirky songwriting is steeped in the echos of traditional music, sewn together with imaginative arranging that will pique your curiosity. Her latest release “If Only I Could Fly” (2013) showcases her prowess as a multi-instrumentalist.
New Album due May 2018. More info at www.emeraldrae.com.
