Italian violinist, improviser, and composer Ludovica Burtone has performed worldwide as both a soloist and chamber musician. A recent graduate of Berklee College of Music in jazz composition, she has been classically trained at the Conservatory of Liceu in Spain and at the Conservatory J. Tomadini in Italy, where she graduated with a master of arts in violin performance. Burtone has worked with several European orchestras, and as a chamber musician she has toured throughout continental Europe, Canada, Costa Rica, and the United States.
Recently, she has been working on her own compositions, mixing the warm sound of the string quartet with the standard jazz rhythm section.
In this performance at Arts at the armory she will present with her string quartet a variety of compositions, from the classical repertoire to arrangements of jazz standards, tangos, and original compositions.
