Class Description: We will create amazing sock puppet characters with felt scraps, paper, Sharpie markers, and, of course, socks. In honor of the 50th anniversary of “Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood,” we’ll create our sock puppet neighborhood in a big cardboard box. Puppeteers will decorate their character’s apartment window and then introduce their creations to the neighborhood.
About the Instructor: After studying traditional puppetry in Taiwan for three years, Margaret Moody began incorporating the acrobatic movements of the Taiwanese style into her own hand puppet shows, which feature the Monkey King, fairies and trolls. Currently she works as a solo puppeteer in schools, community centers and libraries and with the troupe Galapagos Puppets for museum and school audiences.
