Class Description: In this session, participants will discover the instrument they always carry around with them, their voice! Working together and using only their voices, kids will learn about basic musical concepts like chords, major and minor harmony in a simplified and fun manner! They will also listen to different types of music and learn to distinguish the differences.
About the Facilitator: Sophie Scolnik-Brower graduated Magna cum laude in 2012 from Harvard University with a B.A. in psychology, followed by a year as an AmeriCorps volunteer for at-risk New York City high school students. Deeply passionate about music education in underserved communities, Scolnik-Brower has spent part of the last few summers teaching piano in Haiti and hopes to continue to do so in the future.
