Date(s) - Mon. Aug. 07, 2017
9:30 am - 12:00 pm

Class Description:  In this workshop we will write a collaborative Body Poem by brainstorming for similes. “My hair is as curly as curly fries/My eyebrows are like two rainbows above my eyes/My beating hearts sounds like horses galloping.” Students will also write poems inspired by a tin box full of unusual objects and dream-like paintings. We will learn about the building blocks of poetry: simile, rhyme and personification and experiment with the shape of the poem on the page. Reading our poems aloud, we will listen for the music and rhythm in our language. Choosing from paints, crayons or pencils, students will illustrate their poems for display.
