Exhibit: Cara Foster Karim

Exhibit: Cara Foster Karim

Thu. May. 23, 2019 - Sun. Jun. 30, 2019 at All Day

Our current exhibit is now open in the Armory Cafe until June 30th!

Stop by the Armory Cafe to check out a solo show by local artist Cara Foster Karim. For years, Cara has been using her art to celebrate ordinary neighborhood scenes. She creates her unique paintings with a mix of techniques from traditional oil painting to experimental mixed media collage. Her work explores the beauty and diversity of urban landscapes through color and texture, creating layered cities that represent the diverse people who live in them, create them, and give them meaning.

Cara is an oil painter and mixed media artist living and working in Somerville, Massachusetts.  She studied studio art at Dartmouth College but worked for almost 10 years in affordable housing and urban planning research before coming back to art full time. When not painting, she loves cooking, rock climbing, volunteering at a local kids’ soccer camp, and spending time with her husband, her 4-year-old son, and her 1-year-old daughter.

The Closing Reception will be from 2:00pm-3:30pm on Sunday, June 30. Join Armory staff and Cara Foster Karim in the Cafe for light refreshments and to enjoy the final hours of this beautiful solo exhibit.

The exhibit is open to the public during all Cafe open hours.

Hello Boston-area animators and artists! The final event of our spring season is coming up and our special guest is sure to help us close out strong.

Kirk Wallace is an animator, illustrator and designer, and the creative force behind BoneHaüs, his commercial freelance creative studio. Kirk’s dynamic and appealing design sense has landed him work with big clients like Facebook, Uber and MailChimp, creating unique campaigns that take animation beyond just video and into the world of gifs, stickers, interactive maps and more. Kirk’s independent work as an artist and filmmaker, often starring his “paraphysical manifestation” Skülly, also takes digital art and animation to new heights. Kirk values sharing the behind-the-scenes of creating work and collaborating with other artists, so we hope you join us for a talk that promises to be both inspiring and transparent.

Event starts at 7pm, talk starts at 7:30pm

Free and open to all, with a suggested donation of $5. Free parking is located behind The Armory.

This event will be held in the cafe where beer, wine and a full menu of sandwiches, salads and snacks are available.
