Updated Proof of Vaccination and Mask Policy 1.15.22

Effective January 15, 2022, ROOTED Armory Cafe and Farmstand will require proof of vaccination from all patrons who choose to sit in the Café. Those who get food or beverage to go will not be required to show proof of vaccination. The Center for Arts at the Armory requires all staff and event guests ages 12+ to show proof of vaccination status for admittance.* Guests who are MA residents are encouraged to download their vaccination QR code from https://myvaxrecords.mass.gov/ and show proof of vaccination from their cell phones. Negative test results will no longer be accepted in place of proof of vaccination. Children age 5+ must present proof of full vaccination (2 doses) by May 1, 2022. The Center for Arts at the Armory requires everyone (except for children under the age of 2) to wear a mask inside the Armory common spaces, Performance Hall and Cafe. It is recommended that all staff and guests use an N95 or K94 mask. We will continue to evaluate and update these policies as the situation evolves.

*Although vaccination is highly recommended for everyone attending the Somerville Winter Farmers Market, proof of vaccination will not be checked prior to entering the market.

A Time For Rebirth and Renewal: Give Today

Dear Friends of Arts at the Armory,

As we head into the holiday season and speed toward the end of the year, we are thinking about you and the community we serve, and how our current moment has great importance as a time of rebirth and renewal. With our gradual return to in-person events in our Performance and Café beginning in May, we have used this time to reflect, and look inward and outward to understand how we can better serve our community, and create a sustainable organization in the process. We are rebuilding our team, rebooting our business plan, and improving our spaces. It’s a work in progress but there is a spirit and energy of possibility afoot that is driving our momentum. To realize the full potential of our rebirth, we are asking for your support of our year-end campaign with a goal to raise $20,000 by December 31st. Please click here to make a donation and thank you in advance for giving as generously as you can. Your contribution is essential to renewing the magical space for arts, culture and community that we all know and love.

With my sincere gratitude and warm wishes of the season,

Stephanie Scherpf
Executive Director

Announcing the Performance Opportunity Program (POP)

The Center for Arts at the Armory’s signature Performance Opportunity Program (POP) seeks to serve local individuals and groups involved in arts, culture and community building, and for whom our regular rental rates for the Performance Hall are too great a financial burden. We believe that arts and culture play an essential role in strengthening the local community we serve, and we know that access to performance and event spaces are one of the most challenging issues facing local artists and cultural workers. Performing arts events that showcase diverse voices promote mental health, well-being and understanding within the wider community. By opening our Performance Hall to arts groups who would not otherwise have access to a large performance venue, we are seeking to provide a welcoming and healing space for local artists and audiences to flourish within the rich multicultural communities of Somerville, Greater Boston, and beyond.

Once per month, skipping July and August, Arts at the Armory will select an individual or group to host a POP event in our Performance Hall on an off-peak night of Monday-Wednesday. Applicants will be accepted on a rolling basis, and will be chosen based on how well they reflect our values of community, creativity, and inclusivity. Events must be open to the public, and feature music, theater, dance, circus, film, media arts or spoken word/literary arts. Arts at the Armory will support production costs and also assist with marketing and promotion. Please click here to download a POP Application Form and click here to download a Budget Worksheet (both forms are required for a POP submission).

Funding support for POP generously provided by Cambridge Trust, Mass Cultural Council and Somerville Arts Council.
