ROOTED To Reopen March 2nd!

Dear Friends,

We hope you’ve been well while we had to hit the pause button due to financial hardship brought on by the pandemic. It’s been a winter slog but we have great news to share–we are bringing back furloughed staff and reopening ROOTED Armory Cafe & Farmstand on Tuesday, March 2nd as hoped!

This is made possible in large part because of our community’s generosity, including critical COVID relief grants from the MA Cultural Council and the City of Somerville. Thank you to all who are enabling us to keep holding on so that we can continue to serve our community as a nexus of arts, cultural and community.

We are going to need your continued support to keep going. If you would like to make a donation to Arts at the Armory, you can do so here. We are also counting on your patronage of ROOTED in order to stay open. Please plan to stop by frequently for delicious takeout menu items (including alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and coffee drinks made at our espresso bar), and groceries featuring produce, dairy and pantry items, and beer and wine. Order online so that your order is ready when you come in. Open hours are M – F 8:30am – 6pm, Sat 9am – 6pm, Sun Closed. We know you’ve been missing our reinvented menu, and grocery featuring local and organic products!

As we look towards Spring, we will be seeking to serve our community in new and innovative ways. Stay tuned for updates, to learn what we’re up to, and how you can engage with us.

Sincerely,

ROOTED CAFE In Hibernation and Staff Furloughed Until 3/1/21

Dear Friends,

It’s with a heavy heart that we are announcing that The Center for Arts at the Armory and ROOTED Armory Cafe & Farmstand will go into a hibernation period from December 24 – March 1 due to financial hardship. While almost all our staff will be furloughed during this period, the Somerville Winter Farmers Market will still be operating on Saturdays— just not the ROOTED Cafe.

We’ve gotten this far in large part because of your support. We’ve been able to stay afloat through a combination of ROOTED sales, a PPP forgivable loan, grants from the City of Somerville and others, sponsorships and individual donations. The good news is that we have several grant requests pending and are hopeful that we will qualify for the recently announced Save Our Stages relief funding or another PPP loan.

This isn’t goodbye forever–just goodnight for now, as we hibernate. But we are counting on your support more than ever as we enter this hibernation. During the next two months, we will still have basic expenses to meet like rent, utilities, and insurance to keep our non-profit organization operational. We also need to replenish the coffers in order to be able to reopen in March. If you are able to do so, please click here to do so.

Thank you for your support, and for guaranteeing that the power and the magic of the Armory will be available to all of us once again in the not-so-distant future.

With our sincere gratitude, and wishes for a peaceful and safe holiday season,

Stephanie Scherpf
Executive Director
